Erin Sweeney is an Associate Professor of Health and Physical Education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK), serving as the Graduate Program Chair. She holds a PhD in Health Education from the University of Toledo, a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University, and a BS in Health and Physical Education from Slippery Rock University. Prior to academia, she taught middle school health and physical education.

Her research focuses on adolescent health, student drug testing, injury/violence prevention, pedagogy, and sexuality education. Her publications address topics ranging from dual undergraduate majors to drowning prevention interventions.
Dr. Sweeney coordinates the graduate physical education program and teaches courses such as Foundations of Advocacy in Education and School Health Methods. She leads the Physical Activity and Wellness Lab and collaborates on initiatives like revising the National Health Education Standards and presenting at Kearney Early Head Start.
