Dr. Erin Mueller serves as Professor of Psychology and Director of both the Psychology Program and Song Nai Rhee Honors Program at Bushnell University, joining the institution in 2022 with over two decades of clinical and academic leadership experience. Her role integrates faith, evidence-based research, and real-world service to foster student growth in a Christ-centered environment.
Her educational credentials include:
- Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Brigham Young University
- Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neurology at Oregon Health & Science University
Dr. Mueller's research spans Clinical Psychology, Child and Family Psychology, and Neuroscience, with distinctive focus on Virtue Ethics (cultivating hope, love, and integrity) and Cross-cultural Psychology through directed study abroad programs in South Africa, Ireland, and France. She emphasizes translating psychological research into practical tools for families and educators while integrating faith-based perspectives.
As a dedicated mentor, she guides students through Bushnell's psychology specializations (general, forensic, neuroscience) toward careers in counseling, health professions, and criminal justice. Her academic leadership includes launching Concordia University-Portland's Master's in Community Psychology, Psi Chi chapter, and community initiatives like Embrace the Community Day and Eugene Mission volunteering.
Dr. Mueller leads the Psychology Program and Honors Program at Bushnell, building on prior research direction of Northwestern College's Parent Lab and Pacific Research and Evaluation teams. Her holistic teaching approach nurtures wisdom and purpose through hands-on application of psychological principles to real-life challenges.
