Her research bridges two key strands: Italy's transnational Mediterranean ties and gender/family in early modern political culture. Her 2018 monograph, Venice’s Intimate Empire, integrates family letters, humanist geographies, and Venetian archives to explore imperial governance through intimate networks.
Her recent publications (2024–2022) span topics including medieval women's lives, Renaissance art, and gender in historical narratives. She actively reviews for New York Times Book Review, New York Review of Books, and London Review of Books.
Dr. Maglaque supervises postgraduate research in early modern European history, particularly Italy/Mediterranean, and co-curated the 2015 exhibition Boomtown: Silver and Science, Riches and Radicalism in Renaissance Bohemia at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
