Erin J. Friedman is an Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Lynchburg since 2013. She holds a BS from Trinity University and a PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research focuses on plant physiological responses to environmental and space-related stresses, Wolbachia infection in local tick populations, and pedagogical innovations in introductory and plant biology education.
Education:
- BS in Biology, Trinity University
- PhD in Biology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Research Highlights: Examines terrestrial and orbital stress impacts on plant biology, investigates Wolbachia-tick interactions, and develops novel teaching methodologies for introductory biology courses. Her work bridges fundamental plant science with translational applications in space agriculture and public health.
Teaching: Instructs courses including Evolutionary Biology (BIOL 113), Molecular Perspectives (BIOL 114), Molecular Cell Biology (BIOL 360), and Cell Communication (BIOL 327). Committed to making complex biological concepts accessible through innovative pedagogy.
