Erika M. Olimpiew

Erika M. Olimpiew serves as Associate Collegiate Professor of Computer Science at the Institute for Advanced Computing with over 20 years of professional experience designing solution architectures for mobile and cloud technologies across commercial, government, and startup sectors.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Information Technology, George Mason University, 2008
• M.S. in Computer Science, Virginia Commonwealth University, 1997

Research Interests: Her primary focus encompasses Software Architecture modeling for cloud systems and Cybersecurity, with significant extension into Human-Computer Interaction and Accessibility through neurodivergent learning applications. This interdisciplinary work bridges technical architecture with Educational Technology to create safe learning environments via her company Emotive Computing.

Professional Engagement: Dr. Olimpiew actively mentors through the Women In Technology (WIT) mentor-protégé program and founded Emotive Computing, LLC. to develop training resources—including videos, checklists, and apps—for caretakers, educators, and peer mentors supporting neurodivergent learners.
