Erik Solligård is a Professor and senior consultant in intensive care medicine at NTNU’s Department of Circulation and Imaging, affiliated with St. Olavs Hospital. He holds concurrent roles as Director of Health Møre og Romsdal and Deputy Head of Research at the European Sepsis Alliance. Trained as a physician at UiB and NTNU (Dr. Med 2007), his career combines clinical practice, academic research, and healthcare leadership.
Research focuses on sepsis pathogenesis, personalized medicine, and global health collaboration with Nepal’s Dhulikhel Hospital. Key projects include the Gemini Center for Sepsis Research (funded by NFR/EU) and the Corona Study Trøndelag (CUT COVID-19). Innovations like SEPCEASE (Doppler-based sepsis detection) and wireless ultrasound projects (BiA/EyeLife) highlight his translational work.
Leadership roles include chairing Norway’s air ambulance reform (2021-2025), Faculty Board membership (2017-2021), and national/international sepsis registries. Teaching spans medical education, nursing training, and specialist programs. Current projects emphasize genomic interactions in sepsis, leveraging HUNT cohort data (4000+ genotyped patients) and international collaborations (Karolinska, Yale).
