Erik Johnson

Erik Johnson serves as Deputy Director for Construction at the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II) within Brookhaven National Laboratory. With a career spanning since 1985, he began as a postdoctoral researcher in surface chemistry and advanced through scientific staff roles to leadership positions in synchrotron facility development.

Education:

• Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, University of Minnesota
• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Cornell University

His expertise centers on technical project management for large-scale scientific infrastructure, including DOE line item projects, MIE initiatives, and NYS-sponsored programs (ESD/NYSERDA). He specializes in synchrotron instrumentation, accelerator systems, and organizational leadership within complex research environments.
