Erik-Jan Broers is an Assistant Professor at Tilburg Law School, part of Tilburg University's Public Law and Governance department. He specializes in Legal History, focusing on Criminal Law, Procedural Law, and Medieval Literature's legal aspects. His academic career began at the Katholieke Hogeschool Tilburg (now Tilburg University), where he completed his studies in 1986. He defended his doctoral thesis Beledigingszaken voor de Staatse Raad van Brabant 1586-1795 in 1996. He teaches European Legal History (bachelor's level) and History of Criminal Law and Tax Law (master's level).
His research explores Dutch legal history, particularly criminal law evolution and procedural practices in the 17th–18th centuries. He serves as an editor for Stg Brabantse Regionale Geschiedbeoefening since 2008.
