Dr. Erik Hines is a Professor of Counseling in the Department of Counseling, Leadership, and Educational Sciences within the College of Education and Human Development at George Mason University, where he has secured over $12.5 million in research funding.

Research Focus: Dr. Hines specializes in the postsecondary readiness and career development of Black men and boys across educational contexts, with a particular emphasis on:

- STEM identity development guided by bell hooks' homeplace theory
