Erik Heinrichs is a Professor of History at Winona State University's College of Liberal Arts, Department of History & Legal Studies. His research focuses on medical and cultural responses to plagues in medieval and early modern Europe. He holds a PhD and AM from Harvard University, a BA from Marquette University, and studied at Leopold-Franzens University in Innsbruck, Austria.

Research interests include plague studies, the history of medicine, and cultural responses to disease. His 2018 book explores plague advice by German physicians during the Renaissance and Reformation. Teaching includes courses on European history, the Middle Ages, Reformation, and the history of medicine.
