Erik Dahl, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of National Security Affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), affiliated with the Department of National Security Affairs and the Center for Homeland Defense and Security. Previously, he served 21 years in the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer and held academic roles at the Naval War College and Harvard's Kennedy School. He holds advanced degrees from institutions including Tufts University’s Fletcher School and the London School of Economics.
His research focuses on intelligence analysis, terrorism prevention, homeland security, and international relations theory. Notable works include *Intelligence and Surprise Attack* (2013) and *The COVID-19 Intelligence Failure* (2023). His teaching interests include intelligence applications for homeland security and international relations fundamentals.
Recent articles address predictive intelligence methodologies, pandemic preparedness, electromagnetic threats, and catalytic events in violent extremism.
