Erik Crosman is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science at West Texas A&M University's Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences within the Department of Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences. Since joining in August 2019, he has taught 9 courses and 4 laboratories including Fundamentals of Air Quality, GIS, and Numerical Methods in Environmental Science.
His research focuses on air quality, weather modeling, remote sensing, and meteorology in arid regions. Recent projects include satellite observations of pollution in the Permian Basin, extreme heat studies in Palo Duro Canyon, and playa lake surface area analysis using Sentinel-2 satellites. He also contributes to global-scale research on cold air pools and satellite-derived lake temperatures.
Dr. Crosman has published over 33 peer-reviewed articles (8 as first author) and actively participates in scientific conferences. He served on committees for the American Meteorological Society (AMS) Mountain Meteorology STAC Committee and contributed to the AQUARIUS working group planning a 2024 air quality field campaign across the western US.
