Erik A. Borg is a Professor of Business Administration at the Department of Social Sciences, Södertörn University. He has been affiliated with the institution since 1997, contributing to its founding as an early employee and member of the planning group. His academic career also includes roles at Stockholm University, Lund University, and international institutions like Long Island University (USA), INSEEC (France), and East China University of Science and Technology (China).
Prof. Borg's research focuses on globalization's impact on enterprises, networks in post-industrial societies, and the Nordic School of business administration. Key areas include medical tourism dynamics, entrepreneurial ecosystems in suburbs, and transitional economies. He leads the Reinvent research center, studying enterprise localization in suburbs and globalization's effects on healthcare systems. His work with the Baltic Sea Foundation explores market transitions in Baltic Sea Region countries.
Borg's publications span books like Globalisation, Nations and Markets and articles in journals such as Technovation and Scandinavian Journal of Management. His research methodologies emphasize network analysis, market sociology, and cross-cultural economic studies. Current projects investigate trust-based medical tourism networks and the adaptation of hospitality principles in healthcare management.
Prof. Borg holds an MSc Econ from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a PhD from Stockholm University (1994), focusing on European market integration. His teaching spans marketing strategy, international business, and management in transitional economies.
