Erik Andersson is a Professor and Principal Researcher at Stockholm Resilience Centre, a collaboration between Stockholm University and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Since 2022, he holds a split position between Stockholm University and the University of Helsinki. He leads the Centre's urban research initiatives and non-academic collaborations, focusing on Anthropocene dynamics and transformative futures.
His research centers on sustainable landscape governance with emphases on:
- Urban ecological systems and resilience frameworks
- Participatory transdisciplinary methodologies
- Ecosystem service integration in policy development
- Biodiversity conservation in anthropogenic landscapes
Publication analysis reveals dominant themes in urban sustainability (2021-2025), with growing focus on justice-oriented approaches to nature-based solutions and multispecies inclusion in urban planning. Earlier works established foundational frameworks for green/blue infrastructure.
