Professor Erick M. Carreira is Full Professor at ETH Zürich's Laboratory of Organic Chemistry. His research program focuses on asymmetric synthesis of biologically active natural products through catalytic methods innovation.
Holds a BS (University of Illinois), PhD (Harvard), and completed postdoctoral work at Caltech. Previously served on faculty at Caltech before joining ETH Zürich in 1998.
Research emphasizes organometallic chemistry, coordination chemistry, and molecular recognition for asymmetric stereocontrol. Current projects include medicinal chemistry collaborations and reaction design for complex molecule synthesis.
Publications demonstrate advancements in iridium-catalyzed reactions, iron-catalyzed transformations in aqueous media, and total synthesis of bioactive compounds.
