Erich Pick

Erich Pick is a visual artist, author, and curator affiliated with the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg (HFBK). He holds a Dr. phil. in art from HFBK Hamburg, supervised by Prof. Dr. Hanne Loreck and second-refereed by Prof. Dr. em. Susanne von Falkenhausen. His doctoral work, "Biotopia: Architecture, Biopolitics, and Technology in Kiesler, Lynn, and Spuybroek", explores the interplay between artistic design and biopolitical governance.

Education includes a Diploma in Fine Arts (2007, HFBK Hamburg), Mechanical Engineering (1998, University of Essen), and Philosophy (University of Essen). Professional roles include:

• Research Assistant, University of Essen (1998–2002)
• Research Assistant, HFBK Hamburg (Department of Art Theory and History, 2010–2013)
• Lecturer in Film Studies, Hamburg Media School (2011–2013)

Research interests focus on organicism in art/architecture, biopolitical theory, and affective dynamics of artworks. He has conducted research stays in Valencia, New Delhi, and Istanbul, and is a member of the Doktoranden-Netzwerk Nachhaltiges Wirtschaften e.V. since 1998.

His artistic practice combines installation, video, and sound. He regularly publishes in technology impact assessment and curates exhibitions.
