Connell’s research focuses on experiential learning—rooted in his doctoral work and early mentorship by Rodney Hill—and naturalistic inquiry within architectural education. He advocates for sustainable design practices, as seen in his course Living Green: Sustainable Study Abroad to the Netherlands, and integrates real-world building experiences into curricula. His expertise also spans construction cost estimating and curriculum development, reflecting his dual disciplinary background.
He is affiliated with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). Fluent in English and German, Connell enjoys studying architecture globally, particularly in regions with notable architectural heritage, alongside interests in beautiful cars and baseball.
