Erica Sysol is an Assistant Professor of Practice at St. John Fisher University’s School of Business. She transitioned to academia in 2019 after a career in government, including roles at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Her expertise spans financial and managerial accounting, forensic accounting, fraud examination, and accounting information systems. She teaches financial accounting, cost accounting at the undergraduate level, and forensic accounting for the MBA program.

Research & Experience: At the FBI, she contributed to enterprise property management system implementation, audit responses, and forensic financial analysis. Her work earned the 2013 Director’s Award from Robert Mueller III. She also holds Apple Teacher certification.

Additional Roles: She has advised on procurement systems, created job tutorials, and maintained subject-matter expertise in financial systems. Her teaching focuses on practical applications of accounting principles in fraud detection and business operations.
