Erica Sheen is a Professor in the Department of English and Related Literature at the University of York. Her research bridges Renaissance studies and cinema, focusing on cultural politics of historical media. She has held visiting roles at Oxford, the Harry Ransom Center, and the University of Würzburg. Previously, she taught at London, Oxford, Cambridge, and Sheffield Universities. She earned degrees in Drama and English Literature, with doctoral research on Shakespearean theatre. Her major works include *Shakespeare and the Institution of Theatre: the Best in this Kind* (2009) and *Cold War Shakespeare* (forthcoming). She has received grants from the Getty Research Institute, Tamiment Library, and a Leverhulme Fellowship.
Research interests include institutional approaches to Shakespearean theatre, Cold War cinema, and cultural politics. She co-leads the Cold War Cultures network and the NWO-funded 'Shakespeare in the Making of Europe'.
