Erica Gorenberg is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Ursinus College, where she joined the department in 2022. A Ursinus College alumna (B.S. in Biology, 2015), she earned her PhD in Neuroscience from Yale University in 2020. Her research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases and chaperone protein systems, with teaching responsibilities including Introductory Cell Biology, Genetics Laboratory, and Neuroscience Techniques.
- PhD in Neuroscience from Yale University (2020)
- Postdoctoral fellowship at University of Pennsylvania (PennPORT)
- Current faculty at Ursinus College since 2022
Her research investigates:
- Protein misfolding and aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases
- Chaperone-mediated disaggregation mechanisms
- Applications of yeast and cell culture models
- Active learning strategies in biology education
- Classroom accessibility and inclusivity
Recent work highlights connections between synaptic function, protein palmitoylation, and tauopathy pathogenesis, while her educational approach emphasizes creating inclusive learning environments where students develop scientific thinking skills through laboratory and classroom engagement.
Article trends show expertise in:
- Mechanisms of neurodegenerative disease
- Chaperone protein functionality
- Synaptic proteostasis regulation
- Translational neuroscience research
- Protein aggregation dynamics
- Molecular neurobiology
