University of California, San Franciscoمعرفی
Dr. Eric Tse is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He oversees the Cryo-Electron Microscopy facility at UCSF's Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (IND), specializing in high-resolution structural analysis of amyloid proteins and macromolecular complexes linked to neurodegeneration. His work integrates advanced cryo-EM and cellular cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) to study proteins in their native cellular environments.
Dr. Tse earned his B.S. in Biochemistry at UCLA, followed by a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan under Dr. Dan Southworth. His doctoral research focused on protein chaperone systems (e.g., αB-crystallin, Hsp90/Hsp70) and their roles in tau ubiquitination and neurodegenerative mechanisms. He helped establish the IND's cryo-EM facility during Dr. Southworth's transition to UCSF.
His research interests center on unraveling structural and mechanistic aspects of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's, through advanced microscopy techniques. He provides technical support and collaborative infrastructure for IND researchers to advance structural biology applications in neurodegeneration studies.
