Eric Suuberg

Eric Suuberg is the Starr Professor of Technology Entrepreneurship and Professor of Engineering at Brown University's School of Engineering, where he has been a faculty member since 1981 as one of the founding members of Brown's Chemical Engineering program. He currently serves as Co-Director of the Superfund Basic Research Program and co-founder of the PRIME (Program in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship).

His research focuses on energy and environmental engineering, with particular expertise in fuel chemistry (coal, oil shale, biomass), activated carbons production, materials reuse (automobile tires, coal fly ash), and vapor intrusion modeling. His work bridges thermodynamics of high molecular weight organic compounds with practical environmental remediation challenges, especially at Superfund sites.

Professor Suuberg's recent publications demonstrate a strong trend toward vapor intrusion modeling and PFAS research, with increasing focus on urban environmental challenges and computational approaches to contaminant transport. His work integrates chemical thermodynamics with practical field applications for environmental protection.
