Eric Stabb

Eric Stabb serves as Professor and Department Head of Biological Sciences at UIC's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His research program investigates bacterial symbiosis using the Vibrio fischeri-squid model system to understand host-microbe communication and coadaptation.

Research examines:

• Genetic regulation of quorum sensing and bioluminescence
• Host-symbiont recognition mechanisms
• Bacterial behavior in spatially structured environments

Publications demonstrate consistent innovation in microbial genetics tools development. Recent work focuses on genetic determinants of colonization fitness and spatiotemporal dynamics of bacterial signaling in host environments.
