Eric Schultz (he/they) serves as Assistant Professor of Music and coordinator of the woodwind area at Coastal Carolina University. He is also director of the Edwards Center for Collaborative Research and founding faculty of The [Represent]atoire Project, which advocates for inclusive music curricula by highlighting works by women, composers of color, and living composers. A clarinet virtuoso, he performs globally as a soloist, chamber musician, and interpreter of new music, with recent accolades including recognition from Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Corigliano and a GRAMMY® Educator Award nomination.

Schultz’s research focuses on contemporary articulation techniques and new music analysis. He collaborates with composers like Valerie Coleman, Amanda Harberg, and Armando Bayolo, commissioning and premiering works that expand the clarinet repertoire. His projects, including residencies at institutions such as Yale School of Music and virtual initiatives with the Victory Players Chamber Orchestra, emphasize diversity and innovation in music education.
Recent awards include being named a quarterfinalist for the GRAMMY® Music Educator of the Year Award. His students, such as Victor Sanchez, Hailey Cornell, and Diamond Gaston, have received full-ride scholarships for graduate studies in music. As a Buffet Crampon performing artist, Schultz performs exclusively on their instruments and maintains an active concerto schedule with orchestras like The Chelsea Symphony and Long Bay Symphony.
