Eric Nichols is an Associate Tutor in the Faculty of Science at the University of East Anglia, affiliated with the School of Engineering, Mathematics and Physics and the Department of Mathematics. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. His research focuses on Pure Mathematics, particularly Set Theory, Large Cardinals, and Choiceless Set Theory. Nichols has organized and participated in several academic events, including the UEA-EMP Big Day (2025), Model Theory in the UK (2025), and Leeds Set Theory Seminar (2024). He is a member of the Algebra, Number Theory, Logic, and Representations (ANTLR) research group.
Education:
- Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, University of Northern Iowa (2016–2019)
- Master of Science in Mathematics, University of Ohio (2019–2021)
Research Interests: Nichols specializes in foundational areas of mathematics, particularly exploring advanced topics in Set Theory such as Large Cardinals and Choiceless Set Theory. His work contributes to the theoretical underpinnings of mathematical logic and algebraic structures.
Awards:
- UEA American Library Scholar, American Memorial Library (2023–present)
