Eric Nelson is Professor of Music and Director of Choral Studies at Emory University, concurrently serving as Artistic Director of the Atlanta Master Chorale. His ensembles have performed globally at venues including Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House, and Lincoln Center, with featured appearances at eight American Choral Directors Association conventions.
Research focuses on choral repertoire development, conducting pedagogy, and performance practices across historical periods. Notable projects include collaborations with the Rolling Stones (2016) and performance tours to Spain/Portugal.
Creative output includes original choral compositions and arrangements published through Morningstar Music Publishers, ECSchirmer, Colla Voce, and Augsburg Fortress. His editorial work includes curating the 'Atlanta Master Chorale Choral Series'.
Educational background includes degrees from Houghton College, Westminster Choir College, and a Doctor of Music from Indiana University (1990). Professional activities include frequent guest conducting and clinician roles for festivals and workshops.
