Eric Meyer

Eric Meyer is a Professor at the Institut de Biologie de l'École Normale Supérieure (IBENS), Paris. His research focuses on programmed genome rearrangements in ciliates like Paramecium tetraurelia, particularly the molecular mechanisms driving precise excision of Internal Eliminated Sequences (IES) and transposon elimination during macronucleus development. His team investigates RNA-guided DNA rearrangements, epigenetic memory systems, and the interplay between splicing accuracy and gene expression regulation.

Research Highlights:

• Discovered the role of PiggyMac transposase in IES excision
• Characterized scnRNA-mediated targeting of genomic sequences
• Linked intron retention to Nonsense-Mediated Decay (NMD) in eukaryotic gene regulation
