Eric Lindvall, DO is a Professor of Orthosurgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine, based in Fresno. He is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery with a specialized focus in orthopaedic traumatology. Dr. Lindvall serves on the board of the California Orthopaedic Association and maintains active membership in several professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association.
Dr. Lindvall completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Davis with a BS in Biological Sciences in 1987. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Western University Health Sciences in 1994, followed by an Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Botsford General Hospital in 1999, and an Orthopaedic Trauma fellowship at Tampa General Hospital in 2000.
His research interests focus on orthopaedic traumatology, particularly adult limb and pelvic trauma, intra-articular fractures, delayed unions, nonunions, malunions, acetabular and pelvic fractures, and post-traumatic joint and limb reconstruction. Dr. Lindvall has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals with research spanning from 1997 to 2022, demonstrating sustained scholarly activity in orthopaedic trauma. His publication trends reveal consistent focus on fracture management techniques, surgical innovations for complex pelvic and acetabular injuries, and comparative studies of orthopaedic implants with attention to biomechanics and cost-effectiveness.

Dr. Lindvall has been deeply involved in resident and fellow education since completing his trauma fellowship in 2000. He teaches, supervises, mentors and evaluates Orthopaedic and surgical residents in clinical settings, the operating room, and through one-on-one interactions. His mentoring extends to emergency medicine and family medicine residents, as well as medical students during Orthopaedic Trauma Service rotations. His teaching activities focus on traumatic orthopaedics including intra-articular fractures, multi-extremity fractures, and pelvic/acetabular surgery, covering both acute and late reconstructive fracture care for nonunions, malunions, and post-traumatic deformities.
