Eric Lindquist

Dr. Eric Lindquist serves as an Associate Professor in Boise State University's School of Public Service, currently on sabbatical for Fall 2023 after completing a three-year leave (August 2020–August 2023) as Program Director for the National Science Foundation's EPSCoR program. His academic leadership includes directing Boise State's Public Policy Research Center from 2012 to 2017 and previously holding an Associate Director position at Texas A&M University's Institute for Science, Technology and Public Policy with a joint appointment at the Texas Transportation Institute.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography, Master's of Urban Planning, and PhD in Political Science from Texas A&M University, establishing foundational expertise in policy analysis and planning.

Dr. Lindquist's research examines critical intersections of governance and scientific advancement, specializing in public policy decision processes, agenda setting, and earth systems governance. Current work analyzes Cold War-era scientific diplomacy through "atomic entomology" and the Sterile Insect Technique, while past projects investigated extreme hazard policy, wildfire risk perception in Wildland-Urban Interfaces, climate change adaptation frameworks, and nanotechnology implications. His scholarship consistently bridges environmental policy, science-technology dynamics, and transportation infrastructure planning.

Publications in Political Research Quarterly, Public Administration Review, and Conservation Biology demonstrate sustained engagement with policy theory and environmental governance challenges, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to complex societal problems.
