Eric Jondeau is a Professor of Finance at HEC Lausanne, part of the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. He has held leadership roles, including Director of the Institute of Banking and Finance (2006–2012) and Director of the Center for Risk Management – Lausanne (CRML) since 2012. He is also a founding member of the Systemic Risk and Sustainability (SyRiS) platform, launched in 2019 with colleagues from UNIL, EPFL, and IMD, which focuses on measuring and managing systemic risks (environmental and financial). Additionally, he serves as a Fellow of the French Actuaries Institute.
Eric holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Paris-Dauphine and graduated from the French National School of Statistics and Economics (ENSAE, Paris). Prior to academia, he worked in the French banking industry at institutions such as Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, Banque Indosuez, and Banque de France from 2000 to 2004.
His research interests center on risk management, systemic risks, sustainability, and quantitative finance. He collaborates extensively through CRML and SyRiS, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to address economic and environmental challenges. His work often intersects with banking, econometrics, and financial statistics.
Eric has published in leading journals like the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, and the Journal of Econometrics. His contributions focus on advancing methodologies for risk assessment and sustainable solutions to mitigate systemic threats.
