Dr. Eric J Landers is an Associate Professor in the Department of Elementary & Special Education at Georgia Southern University's College of Education. He also serves as Co-Director of the National Youth-At-Risk Center and is the founder/director of the Southeast Conference on Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports. With a Ph.D. from the University of Florida specializing in children with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD), Dr. Landers brings extensive practical experience as a former classroom teacher for students with EBD to his academic work.
Dr. Landers' research interests focus on:
- School-wide positive behavior interventions and support (all levels)
- Functional behavior assessment (FBA) and behavioral intervention planning (BIP)
- Emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD)
- Classroom-based behavioral interventions
- Systems change
- Inclusion practices
His recent scholarly work has particularly emphasized bullying prevention in online educational settings, with multiple publications in 2024-2025 examining cyberbullying, educator responses to bullying in virtual schools, and cultural perspectives on bullying. Dr. Landers has also investigated special education teacher recruitment in high-need areas and developed the Sustainable, Accessible, Feasible, Effective (SAFE) framework for school safety planning in the post-pandemic educational landscape.

As an active researcher, Dr. Landers has authored more than a dozen publications and given hundreds of presentations on behavior management topics.
