Eric Hoover

Eric C. Hoover, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at the University of Maryland. He directs the Hearing Technology Laboratory, focusing on improving hearing aid efficacy through studies of values and measurement metrics in fitting and validation. He holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University (2015) and a BA from UC San Diego (2002).

His research interests include hearing aid technology, speech perception in noise, psychoacoustics, and audiological best practices. He has published extensively on topics ranging from psychophysical testing methodologies to the ethical implications of over-the-counter hearing aids.
