Eric Emmons is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on corticostriatal circuits in neuropsychiatric diseases such as Tourette syndrome (TS), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and schizophrenia. He investigates how striatal dysfunction contributes to repetitive motor behaviors using mouse models, including the histidine decarboxylase (Hdc) knockout model linked to tic disorders. Emmons holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Iowa (2018) and a BA in Biology from St. Olaf College (2012). His work combines electrophysiology, genetics, and behavioral analysis to understand neural circuit dysfunctions in neurodevelopmental disorders.
