Eric Chelstrom, Ph.D., is a faculty member in the Department of Philosophy at St. Mary's University. He serves as Director of the First-Year Experience, overseeing the University’s First-Year Seminars. His academic background includes a B.A. in Music and Philosophy from Hamline University, an M.A. in Philosophy from Northern Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University at Buffalo, SUNY (2010). His doctoral research applied Husserlian phenomenology to contemporary debates in collective intentionality.
Chelstrom’s research focuses on intersubjectivity, the social world’s building blocks, collective intentionality, shared experiences, norms, horizon intentionality, and how oppression undermines mainstream social theory.
