Eric C. Marcus is a Distinguished Lecturer and Coordinator of the Master’s in Industrial & Organizational Psychology (MAIOP) program at the University of New Haven's Psychology Department within the College of Arts and Sciences. He concurrently serves as an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University’s International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution, teaching courses in conflict resolution and organizational development. A certified mediator in New York State, he practices community mediation in Bronx County.
Dr. Marcus holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Social and Organizational Psychology from Columbia University and a B.A. from Binghamton University. His research focuses on conflict resolution, leadership development, organizational change, and global community building. Key areas include mediation strategies, resistance to change, diversity management, and applying psychological principles to international negotiation.
His recent work emphasizes constructive conflict resolution frameworks for global challenges. Co-editing the Handbook of Conflict Resolution: Theory and Practice (3rd Edition), he contributed a chapter analyzing change and conflict dynamics. His articles often bridge academic theory with practical applications in organizational and international contexts.
Professional activities include workshops on team dynamics, negotiation, and feedback systems, as well as presentations at conferences like SIOP and ASTD. He is preparing a manuscript on 'Resistance to Change: Diagnosis and Intervention' with co-author W.E. Siegal.
