Erhan Akdoğan

Erhan Akdoğan is a Professor in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Yildiz Technical University's Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where he has served since 2010 and founded the Biomechatronics Research Laboratory. He currently directs the Biomechatronics and Robotic Systems Application and Research Center established in 2020.

His academic journey includes:

• BSc in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Yildiz Technical University (1999)
• Master's and Doctorate from Marmara University with AI-based rehabilitation robot research
• Postdoctoral work at Hiroshima University's Biological Systems Engineering Lab (2008-2009)

His pioneering research integrates biomechatronics and artificial intelligence to develop medical rehabilitation technologies, focusing on rehabilitation robotics, AI-driven control systems, and medical device innovation. This work bridges mechanical engineering, healthcare, and computational intelligence to address clinical challenges in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

He has supervised 24 theses and led extensive research initiatives including the Turkish National Genome Project and Biotechnological Drug R&D Center during the pandemic. His administrative leadership spans YTÜ Teknopark's Health Technologies division and the Health Institutes of Turkey (TÜSEB), where he oversaw TURKOVAC vaccine development from concept to product (2020-2024).
