Ergun Yalcin is a Professor of Mathematics at Bilkent University, currently on sabbatical at the University of Waterloo, Canada. His research primarily focuses on algebraic topology and group theory, with specialized interests in group cohomology, group actions on topological spaces, and homological algebra. He has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses including Linear Algebra, Algebraic Topology, Group Representations, and Cohomology of Groups.
His research explores structural properties of group actions, cohomological methods in algebra, and applications of category theory to topological problems. Recent publications emphasize fusion systems, equivariant topology, and dimension functions, reflecting a consistent focus on algebraic structures in geometric contexts. Collaborations frequently involve international researchers in group theory and topology.
Yalcin organizes academic events such as the annual Antalya Algebra Days and Bilkent Algebra Days, fostering research collaboration in Turkey. He maintains an active presence in the mathematical community through lectures, preprint archives, and seminar coordination.
