Cihan Bahran is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Bilkent University's Department of Mathematics. His research focuses on functorial representation theory and its interactions with topology, including studies on FI-modules, homology, and algebraic structures. He completed his PhD at the University of Minnesota under Peter Webb and holds an MS from Bilkent University under Ergün Yalçın. Prior to his current role, he was a TÜBİTAK postdoc working with Olcay Coşkun.
His academic journey includes work on topics such as the commuting complex of symmetric groups, splitting fields, and Alperin's Fusion Theorem. He actively shares mathematical insights through his Twitter account.
