Erfan Saidi Moqadam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Wayne State University, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Kentucky (2022). His research focuses on migrant and minoritized communities, diasporic identity formation, and religious practices, particularly among Iranian Americans in rural Kentucky.

Research interests include migration, ethnoreligious identity, racialization, transnationality, and Middle Eastern communities in the U.S. His work explores how religious practices and racialization shape community dynamics and belonging.
Selected publications (2023–2024) examine themes such as racialization and whiteness among Iranian Americans, transcending Shi’a clerical authority in religious practices, and cultural invisibility in diasporic citizenship. These studies highlight the intersections of identity, migration, and transnational belonging.
