Erella Brown Sofer is a Part-Time Associate Professor of Hebrew and the Holstein Family Lecturer of Israeli Literature and Culture at Syracuse University's College of Arts & Sciences. Her academic career spans institutions including Hamilton College, University of Haifa, and Penn State University.

Dr. Brown specializes in modern and postmodern Jewish/Israeli literature, feminist theatre, psychoanalytic theory, and cross-cultural drama. Her research explores intersections of literature, psychoanalysis, and cultural critique through works by Hanoch Levin, Hélène Cixous, and S.Y. Agnon.
Her publications demonstrate expertise in postmodern drama, Brechtian techniques, uncanny aesthetics, and psychoanalytic performance. She teaches Hebrew language courses and Judaic literature studies.
