Eran Andrechek is a Professor in the Department of Physiology at Michigan State University (MSU), part of the College of Natural Science. He holds affiliations with the Cell & Molecular Biology Program and Genetics & Genome Sciences Program. His research focuses on understanding breast cancer progression, tumor heterogeneity, and developing personalized therapies through integrative approaches combining bioinformatics and mouse models. Dr. Andrechek received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. from McMaster University, followed by postdoctoral training at Duke University.
Research interests include genomic analysis of breast cancer models, metastasis mechanisms, and triple-negative breast cancer drivers. His lab uses CRISPR/Cas9, mouse models, and computational tools to study tumor biology and therapy resistance. Key collaborators include institutions like the NIH/NCI, DoD, and foundations like Susan G. Komen. Current trainees include Carson Broeker, Mylena Ortiz, and others focusing on metastasis, phosphatase mutations, and mammary gland development.
Publications highlight work on E2F transcription factors, genomic parallels between mouse and human cancers, and precision therapy strategies. Lab activities emphasize interdisciplinary training in computational and experimental techniques. Future directions include exploring therapy resistance and refining models for translational research.
