Eppie Leishman

Dr Eppie Leishman is a Social Care researcher at the University of York, based in the Administrative Fairness Lab within the York Law School. She holds a PhD in Social Policy from the University of York and has expertise in qualitative research methods, coproduction, and public involvement in research. Prior roles include associate lecturer, research associate, and Impact Fellow in the School for Business and Society. Her current work focuses on evaluating the fairness of Adult Social Care Needs Assessments in England.

Research Interests: Dr Leishman’s work centers on social care policy, particularly the intersection of care needs assessments and fairness. She leads in-depth case studies analyzing local authority practices and collaborates with an Experts by Experience Group to co-produce insights. Her research also addresses widening participation in education and ethical recruitment practices in home-care sectors.

Advising & Grants: Currently leads a project on Adult Social Care Needs Assessments funded by the Administrative Fairness Lab. Coordinates the Experts by Experience Group, a participatory initiative involving care users and carers as co-researchers.
