Enya Robustelli serves as Assistant Professor at the University of Basel's Department of History within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds dual appointments as both Luginbühl Professorship at the German Seminar (Nadelberg 4) and Amsler Professorship at the History Department (Hirschgässlein 21), both located in Basel, Switzerland.
Her research focuses on Early Modern History with particular emphasis on material culture and the relationship between objects and human experience. Based on the department's research priorities, her work likely intersects with the 'Materialized Identities' project examining how material objects shaped cultural and emotional experiences during the period 1450-1750. This research framework explores how sensory properties of materials like gold, glass, veils, and feathers influenced social identities and emotional communities in early modern European societies.
Her academic work contributes to the Department of History's broader mission which encompasses eight professorships focusing on Middle Ages, Early Modern Period, Modern and Contemporary History, Eastern European History, and History of Africa. The department employs approximately 150 staff members and serves around 850 students at bachelor's and master's levels.
