Enrique Giordano is an Associate Professor of Spanish at the University of Cincinnati (tenured since 1988), specialized in Hispanic Literatures, Literary Theory, and Latin American Theatre/Film Studies. He holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania (1978) and a Licenciatura from the University of Concepción, Chile (1970). His career includes roles as Assistant Professor at Barnard College (1979–1985) and adjunct teaching positions at the United Nations (1978–1982).
Research focuses on 20th-century Latin American narrative, semiotics of theatre, and queer theory. Key works include Poesia y Poetica de Gonzalo Rojas (1987), El mapa de Amsterdam (poetry, 2005), and co-edited Reconsideraciones del Fantástico (2011). Recent publications explore body-space dynamics in queer narratives and magical realism.
He has presented over 50 academic papers globally, including sessions on Cortázar, García Márquez, and queer readings of Latin American cinema. Teaching spans undergraduate and graduate courses on Latin American literature, film, and critical theory.
