Enrique Alvear Moreno is an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Sociology at the University of Chicago. His research focuses on crime and policing, particularly the intersection of US imperialism, urban marginality, and ethnography in Latin America. He has conducted extensive fieldwork in Santiago, Chile, exploring predictive policing's global dimensions. His work is supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and others.
Dr. Alvear Moreno holds a PhD and has taught over 500 students in the UIC Sociology Department, emphasizing pedagogy that addresses social inequality. He co-authored Imperial Policing: Weaponized Data in Carceral Chicago and publishes in venues like Law & Social Inquiry and Oxford Bibliographies in Criminology.
