Enrico Vettore is the George L. Graziadio Chair of Italian Studies and Professor of Italian at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). He holds a Ph.D. in Romance Languages from the University of Oregon (2005), an M.A. in Italian Literature from the same institution (2002), a B.A. in Italian Literature from the University of Padua (1990), and a Diploma in Classical Guitar from the Cesare Pollini Music Conservatory in Padua (1985).
His research focuses on 19th- and 20th-century Italian literature, with emphasis on ethics-philosophy intersections, Jungian criticism, and ecopsychological approaches. Current projects include analyzing Michelangelo Antonioni’s tetralogy and exploring animals in Tomasi di Lampedusa’s Il Gattopardo through post-Jungian and ecopsychological lenses. He has published extensively on figures like Petrarch, Schopenhauer, Rossellini, Sciascia, Borges, and Pirandello, delving into themes like non-dualistic cinema, Zen philosophy in narrative, and moral didacticism.
Awarded 'Most Inspirational Professor' (2010) and 'Outstanding Teacher' (2008), Vettore has received grants for projects such as investigating Gadda’s intertextuality and Italian encounters with non-Western cultures. His work bridges literary analysis with interdisciplinary frameworks, including film studies, music, and ecology.
