Eno Ebong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University’s College of Engineering, with affiliations in Bioengineering and Biology. Her research focuses on endothelial cell mechanobiology, particularly the role of the glycocalyx in atherosclerosis, cancer metastasis, and neurodegenerative diseases. She employs advanced techniques like cryopreservation, TEM, fluorescence microscopy, and in vivo murine models to study glycocalyx structure-function relationships.
Her recent publications highlight interdisciplinary work in nanomedicine, vascular inflammation, and substrate mechanics. Key projects include nanoparticle drug delivery targeting glycocalyx dysfunction, mechanotransduction in fibrotic environments, and glycocalyx restoration therapies. She received the CAREER: EMBRACE STEM grant in 2019 to integrate multicultural education with mechanobiology research.
Prof. Ebong advises PhD and Master’s students, including Dr. Solomon Mensah, and collaborates with labs in cardiovascular and cancer research. Her lab also engages in STEM outreach, such as fifth-grade science experiments and Tucker Elementary School science fairs.
