Andries Engelbrecht is a Professor in Computer Science at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, and holds the South African Research Chair in Artificial Intelligence. He leads the Computational Intelligence Research Group, which includes 50 Masters and PhD students.

Serves as associate-editor for IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation and Journal of Swarm Intelligence, among other editorial roles.
