Dr. Enda Byrne is a Senior Research Fellow at the Child Health Research Centre, University of Queensland. He leads international collaborations investigating the genetic and environmental factors influencing childhood and adolescent psychiatric disorders, particularly depression. His work focuses on polygenic risk scores, longitudinal data analysis, and translational applications in clinical psychiatry. Dr. Byrne holds a PhD from The University of Queensland and is actively involved in supervising PhD projects, including studies on gene-environment interactions in youth mental health.
He has secured significant funding from NHMRC, EU grants, and industry partnerships for projects like Youth-GEMs (Gene Environment interactions in Mental health trajectories of Youth). His research combines genomic technologies, computational methods, and statistical approaches to uncover biological mechanisms underlying mental disorders.
Key research interests include psychiatric genetics, genomic technologies, and computational methods. His team's contributions include identifying novel genetic variants linked to depression and developing predictive tools for clinical decision-making. Dr. Byrne is available for supervision of students in genetics, data science, and related fields.
