Emmerich Davies

Emmerich Davies is an Assistant Professor of Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). His research focuses on education policy, political economy of development, and service provision politics with a regional emphasis on South Asia. He holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Stanford University (2007) and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab in Kolkata, India.

His dissertation investigated the expansion of private elementary education in India and its impact on civic engagement, earning him the National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship. Davies is affiliated with the Civic and Moral Education Initiative at HGSE and contributes to interdisciplinary research on education systems and governance.
